General Guidelines for submission of work to Language Links

In an effort to revitalise and improve our newsletter, we would ask you to consider the following guidelines when sending us your contributions:

  • Please send photos either in hard copy (on photographic paper,
not photocopied) or via email. Parental permission for the use of photos
should be secured before submission. We regret that we cannot process negatives.
  • Please do not send work on floppy disc or on CD.
  • When sending original artwork, please do not submit work larger than
A4 size. 3-D work is not scannable – send a photo of your work instead.
  • Articles should be short and concise (150 words max.)
  • Articles are welcome in English, Irish and any of the target languages of
    the Initiative.
  • Contributions will be selected on the basis of originality and example of
    best practice.
  • Due to the large volume of work submitted, we are unable to return any
    submissions.
  • When sending submissions for Language Links, it is advisable to notify
your Project Leader by email or by telephone that it has been posted to the
    Kildare Education Centre.

We would appreciate it if teachers make a prior selection of their classes’ work.

Submissions should relate to one (or more) of the following categories:

  • Celebrations and Seasonal Events
  • Activities and project work relating to the three strands of the curriculum (Communicative competence, Language Awareness and Cultural wareness) and to cross-curricular work using the designated themes for that issue
  • Ideas for the Classroom (particularly relevant would be ideas and experiences linked to recent Incareer topics)
  • Teachers’ Corner (inc. feedback on any courses or workshops attended)
  • Special Events (School & Community)
  • Pupils’ Corner (Pupils’ Profiles etc.)

For the Teachers’ Corner, Special Events and Pupils’ Corner sections,
we would be particularly interested in hearing about any links with
Post-Primary, links between schools in the Initiative, links with schools
in other countries, pen pal projects and local media coverage of
Initiative events etc.
