17KEC516 Adjusting Classroom Tasks to Support a Child's Ability
Date: Thurs 16th November 2017 (4pm-6.30pm)
Facilitator: Sarah Butler
This practical workshop, facilitated by an Occupational Therapist, supports teachers in adjusting tasks to cater for children's diverse needs in completing classroom activities. Focusing on common areas of difficulty, such as handwriting, scissors, colouring, drawing, seating, PE and yard-play, the workshop shares strategies to achieve 'just-right' challenges in physical learning activities.
Workshop goals:
- Identify the factors influencing children's performances and difficulties.
- Discover practical strategies to adjust activities, prompts and equipment to accommodate pupil need.
- Gain hands-on experience adjusting relevant activities and support levels in everyday school activities.
This workshop is fully tailored to your requirements as a practitioner (resource, learning support or class teacher). Prior to the workshop it is helpful to consider a list of activities your pupils struggle with in their learning environment.
